Spirals, fascia, and integrated movement
Human movement and anatomy are rooted in spirals and tension. When we embrace the concept of biotensegrity, we experience movement through volume, support, fluidity and ease. These qualities are elements that people associate with dancers and professional athletes – but integrated movement is something everyone can achieve! Applying this approach to our teaching can help our clients minimize injury, improve performance, and take the Pilates repertoire into a new dimension.
Through this workshop you will:
- Identify a key source of dysfunction and imbalance in your clients’ bodies
- Integrate new exercises and techniques into your teaching to improve movement quality
- Improve movement patterns for your clients in daily activities and athletic performance
- Discover a new joy in teaching and problem solving as a Pilates professional
We will address:
- Fascia and its role in human movement and function
- Spirals as essential to our anatomy and motion along with developmental movement patterns
- Biotensegrity as the lens through which we can explore movement
- Laban-Bartenieff (with physiotherapy and dance origins) as the precursor to current day full-body movement perspectives

Active and nourished: your guide to menopause well-being
The changes surrounding menopause produce an important shift in a woman’s life. A number of these changes can feel disruptive and chaotic, but when equipped with tools to help you, they can be managed and supported.

About Rebekah:
Rebekah Rotstein is an industry leader for Pilates, bone health and movement education. She is the founder of Buff Bones®, a medically-endorsed exercise method for bone and joint health with on-demand programming and online coaching and free public education webinars with UCLA Health. For the last 14 years the company has offered professional training at locations including Johns Hopkins Rehabilitation Network and has trained instructors in more than 30 countries.
A former ballet dancer, Rebekah worked, starting in 1994, in the Sports Medicine department of Smith College as a student athletic trainer. After that Rebekah trained and got certified in the Pilates method. A diagnosis of osteoporosis at age 28 motivated her to advocate for others with low bone mass and to provide them with innovative education and programming. Her ongoing study of the body includes frequent cadaver dissections along with coursework in fascia research, somatic studies, and visceral manipulation.
Rebekah was one of the first visiting teachers at Pilates Anytime, and has presented at numerous conferences in the Pilates industry. She also presented at the International Osteoporosis Foundation Worldwide Conference and for the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS). Rebekah is a member of the Ambassador Leadership Council for the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation and worked as a partner of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Women’s Health. She serves on the Bone Health Working Group for the Society for Women’s Health Research, contributing to the 2021 recommendations published in the Journal for Women’s Health and is a member of the Medical Advisory Committee for the National Menopause Foundation.
About Jenn:
Dr Jenn Salib Huber completed her undergraduate education in nutrition at Acadia University in 1999, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition (honours). While at Acadia she became interested in functional foods and integrative medicine, and completed her undergraduate thesis on the role of garlic in lowering cholesterol. After completing her internship in dietetics at the QEII Health Sciences Center in Halifax, Nova Scotia, she went on to study Naturopathic Medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, Ontario.
Over the course of the past 20 years, Dr Salib Huber has enjoyed a thriving practice as one of the few people to hold both the RD and ND designations. In addition, she is also a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and enjoys bringing this unique skill set to her work, which now primarily focuses on menopause and midlife nutrition.
In addition to her professional practice, she is an engaging keynote speaker and has been invited to speak at conferences, continuing education events and workplace seminars.
She is the host of ‘The Midlife Feast’ podcast and community that helps women “undiet” their lives after 40 so they can nourish a relationship with food that helps them discover the magic of midlife!
