Alvina Chu
Pilates has been a steady thread in Alvina’s life since 2003, when she first discovered it as a way to support her posture and overall wellbeing. After her first session, she sensed there was something uniquely transformative in the method and felt drawn to understand it more deeply.
Originally from Sydney, life and love brought her to Amsterdam, where she completed her Mat and Comprehensive certification at Smartbody, followed by Polestar Pilates Comprehensive training in Singapore. Over the last decade, Alvina has worked in a variety of settings – Pilates studios, physiotherapy clinics and gym environments – gaining experience with a wide range of bodies, abilities and movement histories.
These years shaped her approach as a teacher: observing how each person breathes, moves and responds. In her private client work, Alvina finds great joy in adapting each session to the individual in front of her, using mindful progressions, and both visual and tactile cues to guide them toward more control, stability and alignment.
She continues to deepen her understanding of the body through ongoing study and has completed courses in pre‑ and postnatal support, Anatomy Trains – informed fascial movement, gait mechanics, shoulder health, scoliosis and functional health coaching.
Alvina believes every body has its own way of moving, learning and finding balance. Her sessions offer a supportive space to explore movement with clarity and curiosity, helping clients build strength, alignment and confidence that support them in everyday life.
